Physicians Regional planning walk-in clinic to compete with NCH on Marco
The move sets the stage for competition with the NCH Healthcare System, which operates the Marco Healthcare Center and was at odds years ago with some Marco residents for not keeping its walk-in center open 24 hours.
Naples-based Health Management Associates, the parent company of Physicians Regional, opened the 100-bed hospital on Collier Boulevard in 2007 to serve residents and visitors of eastern Collier and Marco.

“Women should not exceed one drink [per] day, and women at elevated risk for breast cancer should avoid alcohol or consume alcohol occasionally only,” concluded the authors, led by Helmut K.

Oral bacteria that escape into the bloodstream are able to cause blood clots and trigger life-threatening endocarditis. Further research could lead to new drugs to tackle infective heart disease, say scientists presenting their work at the Society for General Microbiology’s Spring Conference in Dublin. Streptococcus gordonii is a normal inhabitant of the mouth and contributes to plaque that forms on the surface of teeth. If these bacteria enter into the blood stream through bleeding gums they can start to wreak havoc by masquerading as human proteins. Researchers from the Royal College of Surgeons in Ireland (RCSI) and the University of Bristol have discovered that S. Read full post…
